A Hierarchical Analysis Of The World-views, Purposes In Life, And Meaningfulness Of Life-the Application Of A Holistic / Qualitative Approach With A Woman Resides In A Mountain Area With Repeated Severe Natural Disasters

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is based on "psychological process analysis" made ​​a point of view the meaning of life class model analysis framework to explore the meaning of life led the study for a new direction. Research to a mountainous area of Nantou women living in the object, combined with narrative and holistic style sense inquiry, collection of relevant text information, the application of the spirit of grounded theory method of data analysis, the study found the following three two dimensions: 1. "See photos of life with the concept of destiny": the respondents referred to the concepts, beliefs, experience and ideas such as cognitive representations, to identify the respondents of the world, including the following four to degree: "Who am I?": I, I be, I won the self-concept; parent centers, human goodness and compete with the interpersonal concept; Shun, believe in God , anti-religious view of life and death; to "do" and "accept their fate," to integrate and explain the self-life philosophy. 2. "Tired of life operation and ultimate concern": the respondents mentioned the goals, motivation, exercise and other trouble with motivation and concerns the nature of the statements, respondents identify the life goals and life care, including the following three two dimensions: life speak trouble;  nurture the child's ultimate concern; social altruism feedback. 3. "Perception of the meaning of life": description of the study of perception and meaning of life sources, including: "Live" review and integration experience; "create" pleasant experience; ultimate hope other three sources. Final Frankl theory of meaning to the object as a dialogue, a comprehensive discussion of the preliminary findings support the "class analysis" of the theory, effectiveness and feasibility. This article hopes to open a meaningful research, process analysis from psychology and psychological perspective to enhance understanding of the way the human exploration of the meaning of life and process. The purpose of this study was to explore the concept of hierarchical analysis toward the study of meaning of life. It was based upon the conceptualization personality hierarchy model. A woman living on a remote mountain area and suffered repeatedly from severe natural disasters was invited to participate in this study. A holistic and qualitative approach was applied. It was found that: 1. There was a world-view category including Who am I?; Who are they?; Supernatural and transcendental beliefs; and philosophy of life. 2. There was a purpose / goal category including Daily hassles; Ultimate concerns; and Altruistic acts. 3. There was a meaningfulness category including Life review; Creativity and caring; and Ultimate hope. General discussion was done with a close reference to the meaning theory of Frankl . Results are supportive to the hierarchical conceptualization. The discussion provided also some preliminary support for the improvisation of the holistic approach within the qualitative research methodology
