Duns Scotus, category of action ‐ division of contingent being into categories, both sufficient and immediate action, one of the ten Aristotelian categories action remaining within the agent ‐ immanent action, one that “passes through” or “goes out from” the agent called a transient action self‐motion and metaphysics of freedom “power for opposites,” Scotus clarifying, power for opposite actions not merely for opposite effects or products division into nature and will ‐ the most basic division of active powers relationship between intellect and will two affections of the will Scotus' use of two affections ‐ not intended as an explanation of the will's mode of acting
