Abstract

In this work, we project the usefulness of Afropolitan consciousness in a cosmopolitan universe. We achieve this bearing in mind the various synergistic models and suggest the model that is most appropriate for intercultural dialogue. The ascription of western culture as that which should be operational becomes the crux of cultural globalization. This is because homogenization has been wrongly or rightly linked to hegemony. To this end, cultural globalization becomes three-dimensional; homogenization, hybridization, and polarization; they all lack intercultural competence that should supposedly be attributed to the powerful states of the world that are key players of globalization. Since we live in a world where people gravitate towards the installation of the cultural superstructure to determine which culture reigns supreme, we also point to the fact that everyone deserves to be heard. We make use of the conversational method and critical analysis in the quest for the integration of cultures. We argue that intercultural dialogue is the tool for cultural synergy and serves as an antidote to the cultural superstructure.
