Abstract

Philosophy: The Classic Readings is a collection of accessible readings from the history of philosophy specifically intended for the introductory student. The readings were chosen for courses that focus on metaphysics and epistemology. Each reading contains a brief introduction to the philosopher's life and works, thought-provoking study questions, and a bibliography for further reading at the end of each chapter. The philosophers include Plato, Aristotle, Rene Descartes, John Locke, David Hume, Bertrand Russell and Princess Elisabeth of Bohemia.
