Abstract

/// In this paper the author analyzes the foundations of the moral system of David Hume, his claims and the strategies proposed by him to attain that goal. The thesis is that Hume claims to establish an empirical foundation for morals and that his skeptical criticism of the empirical sciences has consequences regarding his strategies pertaining to the ethical domain. This skeptical criticism results in great difficulties for his grounding of morals. The author argues that the strategy of Hume has many flaws and that he is incapable of advancing his attempt to ground morais empirically.
