Abstract

"Crito, we owe a cock to Asclepius; pay it and don't forget" are the last words of Socrates. It is a matter of memory and promise. For the last ten years, Stiegler has developed the philosophical framework needed for a new politics, that of the pharmakon. As Socrates wished in his last moments, this politics intends to change the poison into remedy, the tragedy into a care. Such is the problem of memory, that is at the heart of the organic, and the promise to keep for an existence to come. The pharmacological experience of technical objects is easily perceivable with the development of the internet and the fascination for all types of screens. This vacillation that is truly constitutive of technics also concedes the pharmakos – the scapegoat – which constitutes in turn the object of our struggles. The human question of positive pharmacology is thus to bring attention back into the heart of politics, as reconstruction of the future, as an opening to experimentations and desires, in opposition to the ruin and negligence and what we can call a politics of scapegoats.
