Abstract

This article puts experience of both mildwifery students and beginner psychiatric nurses into perspective. It analyzes dynamics which contribute to build their relationship to the job. The inquiry, as Dewey defines it, is chosen as the analytic entry. Starting from health care professionals’ speech about subjectively significant situations, it emphasiz-es suggestions brought throughout the caring activity. They highlight three dimensions which are constituent of the relationship to the job. These are specifically brought out and discussed here : the relashionship with the vulnerable other, the place of uncertainty in the caretakers’ activity and the building of a clinical sense.
