Abstract

Involves further development of the ideas from Merleau–Ponty broached in the previous chapter. Merleau–Ponty's account of the relation between perception and art is given a detailed exposition. It is then critically appraised and defended in a broader philosophical context. Particular attention is paid to the concept of style, and the significance of painting.
