Abstract

Maritain's humanism should be considered a real human on the full terms, advocates based on the position of Thomas Aquinas, Maritain believed that man has both divine and human, so he proposed the concept of holistic humanism, in addition to criticism from the literary Renaissance humanism since the lack of variety, but also trying to carry out a transcendent humanism. Holistic humanism emphasizes two basic qualities of humanity -眞reality and transcendence, a matter of fact, the doctrine is beyond the concept of focus, this requires not only go beyond simply beyond other species, we also demand towards the divine nature. Maritain considered that a true humanism to be grounded on all aspects of humanity. Coming from the Thomist understanding of human nature as both divinity and humanity, he mentions the concept of integral humanism, not only to critique the inadequacy of the concept of humanism from the Renaissance to now, but also attempt to explore the possibility of a transcendent humanism. Integral humanism is constructed on the two characteristics of authenticity and transcendence. In fact, the main point in Maritain's intergral humanism is the concept of transcendence, which requires not only a simple transcendence of other species, but a transcendence toward the divine nature.
