Abstract

Those of us who cut our teeth on Lowe's Understanding Whitehead felt a special loss at his death in 1988. That sense of loss is magnified by the realization that he did not live to complete the second volume of his Whitehead biography. The published text is composed of 11 chapters that were fairly complete when Lowe died, and part of a twelfth chapter. Two of these dealing with Whitehead's philosophy of physics, chapters five and six, were authored principally by Leemon McHenry.
