Subject-Object of the Educational Process in the Realities of Contemporaneity, or IP Aliases → ∞.Tigran Marinosyan - 2018 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 6:7-30.
The educational doctrine of The Great Didactic as one of the “grand narratives” suffered its complete setback as a result of events that took place in Paris in 1968. Students stopped believing in the correctness of the entrenched education system with its goals and ideals, and from the inside they “blew up” the “walls” of universities, which continued to follow the traditional teaching methods and content of the learning process. According to the author of this study, the ideological explosion inside (...)

Implosion of the Education.Tigran Marinosyan - 2018 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 11:7-21.
The strength of the ideological explosion of the beginning of the last century, which led to the destruction of the principles of structural-matrix thinking, standard-stereotyped behavior, undoubtedly also reached the education system. However, according to the author’s opinion, the reason for the beginning of transformations in the sphere of education is not an external impact on the education system. External factors of influence, undoubtedly, contributed to the corrosion of the shell of the education system, but the breakthrough of “mantle of (...)

  4. Ambiguity, pessimism, and rational religious choice.Tigran Melkonyan & Mark Pingle - 2010 - Theory and Decision 69 (3):417-438.
Using a subclass of the α-maximin expected-utility preference model, in which the decision maker’s degree of ambiguity and degree of pessimism are each parameterized, we present a theory of religious choice in the Pascalian decision theory tradition, one that can resolve dilemmas, address the “many Gods objection,” and address the ambiguity inherent in religious choice. Parameterizing both the degree of ambiguity and the degree of pessimism allows one to examine how the two interact to impact choice, which is useful regardless (...)

The Significance of Irrational Aspect for the Formation of Relations in the “Teacher – Student – Teacher” System.T. E. Marinosyan - 2019 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 62 (2):58-76.
The article is devoted to the significance of the irrational in education processes and to the role of teacher as an actor of psychological influence on the formation of child’s personality. Unfortunately, teacher education programs at universities do not properly introduce to the students all the aspects (including unconscious ones) of the interaction between people, in particular in the “teacher – student” system. At the same time, in the pedagogical literature there are no special works related to this issue. Psychological (...)

    Eliciting beliefs.Robert Chambers & Tigran Melkonyan - 2008 - Theory and Decision 65 (4):271-284.
We develop an algorithm that can be used to approximate a decisionmaker’s beliefs for a class of preference structures that includes, among others, α-maximin expected utility preferences, Choquet expected utility preferences, and, more generally, constant additive preferences. For both exact and statistical approximation, we demonstrate convergence in an appropriate sense to the true belief structure.

The paradox of social interaction : shared intentionality, we-reasoning and virtual bargaining.Nick Chater, Hossam Zeitoun & Tigran Melkonyan - 2022 - Psychological Review 129 (3):415-437.
Social interaction is both ubiquitous and central to understanding human behavior. Such interactions depend, we argue, on shared intentionality: the parties must form a common understanding of an ambiguous interaction (e.g., one person giving a present to another requires that both parties appreciate that a voluntary transfer of ownership is intended). Yet how can shared intentionality arise? Many well-known accounts of social cognition, including those involving “mind-reading,” typically fall into circularity and/or regress. For example, A’s beliefs and behavior may depend (...)

The social character of moral reasoning.Nick Chater, Hossam Zeitoun & Tigran Melkonyan - 2019 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 42:e149.
May provides a compelling case that reasoning is central to moral psychology. In practice, many morally significant decisions involve several moral agents whose actions are interdependent – and agents embedded in society. We suggest that social life and the rich patterns of reasoning that underpin it are ethical through and through.

Philosophical Journal as a Space for Interdisciplinary and Intergenerational Dialogue (The Meeting of the Editor-in-Chief of the Russian Journal of the Philosophical Sciences Khachatur Marinosyan with New Authors).Nikolai B. Afanasov - 2019 - Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences 62 (5):139-150.
The article presents the author’s reflection on the topic of scientific communication and forms of presentation of scientific results in the form of journal publications. As a starting point for reflection served the meeting that took place on March 28, 2019 held by the editor-in-chief of the Russian Journal of Philosophical Sciences Khachatur Marinosyan with new researchers. The event was mainly devoted to the structure of the representation of modern knowledge, a crucial role in which is continued to be (...)
