The idea of transferring and even imposing individual thoughts on others is as old as human history. Quran states that the first people were deceived by being influenced by the words of the devil. It is a known fact that the Prophet conveyed the message to guide people to the right path and was assigned to fulfill this duty. In fact, it is quite natural for this situation to happen wherever there are people. However, advances in the cultural and technological (...) fields throughout history have changed the tools used in the mentioned activities. For instance, with the ease of supply of writing materials and the developments in the field of printing, ideas were conveyed more in writing. When it comes to the modern era, visual programs have gained speed with the digital changes and transformations experienced by television, computers and the internet as their supporter. In this direction, television and subsequently digital broadcasting platforms became widespread, and with the increase in demand for digital platforms, a mandatory change was required in the media sector. Anticipating this change, Netflix is the largest digital broadcasting platform, which entered the digital broadcasting industry quickly and reached millions of subscribers. As it is known, the most important purpose of visual media civilization, if not the only one, is to obtain financial benefits. However, it is also certain that Netflix and similar companies deliberately or unintentionally impose their world of thought, ways of making sense of life, and even ideologies through their content. In this direction, TV programs, series and movies that carry religious images are given a great deal of places on digital platforms, because they attract the watchers and they have high potential to influence on them. Although, these programs sometimes lead people to reach the right information, they often cause false religious teaching to be conveyed. the Caliphate series, which is one of the most watched content on the mentioned platform in recent days and tells the drama-filled story of a family who went to Raqqa from Sweden within the borders of the so-called Islamic State, directs its viewers about Islamic teachings in various ways. In our study, Islamic images in this series will be analyzed through topics such as religious abuse and Islamophobia, and it will be focused on how digital platforms shape the perception of religion. In addition, the transformation of media and digital platforms, the compatibility of the series with its aims and objectives, and how the minds of ISIS militants overlap with the main teachings of Islam will also be touched upon. After all these, the creation of perception will be emphasized in the media sector in general, and digital platforms in particular. (shrink)

Following the death of the Prophet, many different understandings have emerged in the Islamic world to make life meaningful. There is no doubt that understanding of Quran and Hadith texts is the basis of these understandings. The effort to understand Nass, sometimes, has opened the doors of constructive criticism; sometimes it has shown a destructive character. Understanding efforts in Islamic world has been more active on the hadiths in modern times. As a matter of fact, while the groups who claim (...) to live their lives as in the time of the Prophet were affected by modernity, the discourses that did not need any trace from the time of the Prophet paid attention to the hadith-sunnah. In this study, the idea of contradiction to the Qur'an is emphasized, whose traces go back to the classical period and which has moved in a different direction with the abuses of the Quranist-Mealist discourse in modern times. In the first period, the criticism activities which focused on isnad have led to the training of the specialists of jarh-tadîl over time and by this way, the defects that may have happened to isnad were eliminated to a certain extent. In parallel with isnad examinations, text-based critics have also been introduced in the evaluation of hadiths. One of the text-based criticism methods is submitting hadiths to the Qur'an. In this study, the abuse of “submitting hadiths to the Quran”, which has an important place in the Islamic science tradition, but reached a dimension contrary to its natural methodology in the modern period, will be discussed. Recent advances in neuroimaging technologies have rendered multimodal analysis of operators’ cognitive processes in complex task settings and environments increasingly more practical. In this exploratory study, we utilized optical brain imaging and mobile eye tracking technologies to investigate the behavioral and neurophysiological differences among expert and novice operators while they operated a human-machine interface in normal and adverse conditions. In congruence with related work, we observed that experts tended to have lower prefrontal oxygenation and exhibit gaze patterns that are better (...) aligned with the optimal task sequence with shorter fixation durations as compared to novices. These trends reached statistical significance only in the adverse condition where the operators were prompted with an unexpected error message. Comparisons between hemodynamic and gaze measures before and after the error message indicated that experts’ neurophysiological response to the error involved a systematic increase in bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) activity accompanied with an increase in fixation durations, which suggests a shift in their attentional state, possibly from routine process execution to problem detection and resolution. The novices’ response was not as strong as that of experts, including a slight increase only in the left dlPFC with a decreasing trend in fixation durations, which is indicative of visual search behavior for possible cues to make sense of the unanticipated situation. A linear discriminant analysis model capitalizing on the covariance structure among hemodynamic and eye movement measures could distinguish experts from novices with 91% accuracy. Despite the small sample size, the performance of the linear discriminant analysis combining eye fixation and dorsolateral oxygenation measures before and after an unexpected event suggests that multimodal approaches may be fruitful for distinguishing novice and expert performance in similar neuroergonomic applications in the field. This study aims to examine the perspectives of healers who specialize in jinx hit, evil eye touch, and the recitation of sacred verses or prayers for individuals experiencing mental health issues, and whether they collaborate with mental health experts. Using the qualitative research method, data were collected from 20 healers with depth interviews and observation techniques. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive analysis in the 2022 Qualitative Data Analysis Program in Maxquda. According to the results of the research; it (...) was determined that the participants are interested in individuals who come for mental and spiritual-based problems and the effects of the spiritual treatment methods they apply and how reversal processes of the applicant’s progress. In addition, it was revealed that the participants generally have a positive attitude to mental health experts. In line with the data obtained as a result of the research, it is thought that spiritual practices can be included in mental health studies. Furthermore, the research reveals that spiritual support services have a historical long history, and today it is an area that developed under the name of "Pastoral Care" and "Pastoral Counseling" in the West and our country. Considering that this clinical-religious consultancy movement includes various segments of our country, it was concluded that the area needs more development and more research. The findings of the research contribute to the studies carried out in the field of mental health by emphasizing the importance of spiritual support services. (shrink)

Recent research has pointed to the importance of the prenatal environment in the etiology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) but the biological mechanisms which mitigate these environmental factors are not clear. Mitochondrial metabolism abnormalities, inflammation and oxidative stress as common physiological disturbances associated with ASD. Network analysis of the scientific literature identified several leading prenatal environmental factors associated with ASD, particularly air pollution, pesticides, the microbiome and epigenetics. These leading prenatal environmental factors were found to be most associated with inflammation, (...) followed by oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. Other prenatal factors associated with ASD not identified by the network analysis were also found to be significantly associated with these common physiological disturbances. A better understanding of the biological mechanism which mediate the effect of prenatal environmental factors can lead to insights of how ASD develops and the development of targeted therapeutics to prevent ASD from occuring. In this article, the effects of Internet use on the perception of loneliness of university students are investigated. The research sample consists of 202 university students studying medicine at Abant Izzet Baysal University. Demographic questions, “UCLA loneliness scale” and “ Internet Cognitive Status Scale (IBSQ)” were used in the study. The results of the questionnaires were transferred to SPSS and Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H and Spearman correlation analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, it was observed (...) that men had a sense of solitude more than girls. It has been determined that internet use and the time allocated to the internet is more in men. In addition, the time allocated to the internet, economic situation, age, according to the variables lived in the perception of loneliness and problem with the use of Internet has been seen to be significantly different. According to the scores of the UCLA scale and the IBSQ scale, 92,1% of students have a mild and moderate sense of solitude and 7,9% have a dense sense of Solitude. 88.1% of students use normal and 11,9% problem-free internet. When the scores obtained from the scales were examined, it was found that the scores obtained from the UCLA scale (35.76±7.84) and the scores obtained from the IBD scale (97.14±31.83) were determined. In the correlation analysis, where the impact of Internet use on loneliness perception of the students was measured, it was concluded that there was a weak correlation (R=0.327 and p=0.000) and therefore the problem of Internet use affected loneliness perception even at a low level. Molla Halil’e göre insanların bu dünyada yaptıkları iyiliklere karşılık Yüce Allah onları ahirette lütfuyla nimetlendirecek ve Cennetine koyacaktır. Bu, Allah’ın insanlara bir va‘didir. Allah va‘dinden asla dönmez. Çünkü Allah’ın va‘dinden dönmesi, O’nun hakkında bir eksiklik sayılır. Ancak bu durum O’nun için vucûbiyet ifade etmez. Vucubiyet kavramı çeşitli anlamlarda kullanıldığı için anlam kargaşasına yol açabilir. Buna sebebiyet vermemek için kelamda özellikle de bu makalede “zorunluluk” anlamına kullanılacak olup bazen gereklilik anlamı da ihtiva edebilir. Allah, kötülük yapanları ise adaletiyle cezalandıracaktır. Bu da (...) Allah’ın va‘îdi olup, va‘îdi’nden dönebilir. Bu, O’nun hakkında bir noksanlığa sebebiyet vermez. Çünkü cezalandırmaktan vazgeçmesi Allah’ın merhametinin ve lütfunun bir sonucudur. Bununla birlikte ne va‘d ve ne de va‘îd Allah’a vacip değildir. Molla Halil’e göre, büyük günah insanı imandan çıkarmaz. Mu‘tezile’ye göre büyük günah işleyen kimse dünyada ne mümin olur ne de kâfir ikisinin arasında bir yerde durur. Buna da fasıklık denir. Haricîlere göre ise, ister büyük, isterse küçük olsun, her türlü günah sahibini iman dairesinden çıkarır ve küfür dairesine dahil eder. Molla Halil’e göre, ahiret hayatı ruh ve cesetle birlikte olacaktır. Bu üm-metin günahkârlarına peygamberler, şehitler ve salih kimseler şefaat edecek-tir. Mu‘tezile‘ye göre şefaat sadece iyilerin derecesinin yükselmesi içindir. Günahkârlar için şefaat olmayacaktır. Günahkâr müminler Cehenneme girseler de ebedi kalmayacaklar. Kâfirlerin azapları ise devamlı olacak ve bunlar ebedi olarak Cehennemde kalacaklardır. Biz bu makalede önce sevap ve İkâb kelimelerinin lügat ve ıstılah anlamları üzerinde duracak, sonra bu bağlamda ayet ve hadislerde verilen bilgileri ve bunların açıklamalarını ele alacağız. Daha sonra Molla Halil’in bu konulara dair görüşlerini sunmaya çalışacağız. Onun sevap ve İkâb ile ilgili tanımlarını, bunların sonuçlarına dair yaşanacakları ve varılacak yerleri ele alan yaklaşımlarını sunmaya çalışacağız. Burada farklı görüşlere sahip olmaları nedeniyle çoğunlukla Mu‘tezile’nin ve az da olsa Haricilerin görüşlerine de mukayese oluşturması için değineceğiz. Burada sadece Molla Halil’in görüşlerini değil, onun içinden geldiği Ehli Sünnetin görüşlerini, sünni kaynakları temel alarak aktarmaya çalışacağız. (shrink)

Onlar açısından sorumluluğun temel şartı akıldır ve imanın hakikati de ancak düşünme ve akıl yürütme yoluyla bilinebilir. Mâtürîdîlere göre iman, özü itibarıyla kalbin tasdikinden ibarettir ve öncelikli olarak o, bir kalp işidir. Bilgiye dayanması nedeniyle tasdik, önemli bir açıklık ve kesinlik unsurudur. (...) Bununla birlikte Mâtürîdîlerin imanı kalbin tasdiki olarak tanımlamaları ve onu tek başına yeterli görmeleri, imanı bir yönüyle açık ve şeffaf hale getirse de özellikle insana bakan yönü itibarıyla kapalı bir alan kalmaktadır. Mâtürîdîler de bunun farkındadırlar, Allah’a ve ahirete bakan yönüyle tek başına kalbin tasdikini yeterli görseler de dünyaya ve insana bakan yönüyle oluşan kapalılığın üste-sinden gelmek adına, dil ile ikrarın da imana eşlik etmesini gerekli görürler. Onlara göre iman, dünya ve ahiret açısından, en açık tanımına da “kalp ile tasdik ve dil ile ikrar” olarak erişmiş oluyor ki, böyle bir anlayış bir kapalılık ihtiva etmez ve herhangi bir kapalılık durumunu da reddeder.Özet: Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî, Ehl-i Sünnet’in iki ana damarından birini temsil eden, Hanefî-Mâtürîdî geleneğin önemli düşünürlerinden biridir. Ebû Hanîfe’nin görüşlerini açıklama ve sistematik hale getirmesinin yanında o, hem ele aldığı konular hem de takip ettiği metodoloji açısından orijinaldir. Hanefî-Mâtürîdî geleneğin iman anlayışı, günümüz dünyasının gizli, kapalı (takiyyeci) iman anlayışlarına önemli bir cevap olma özelliği taşır. Onların iman davranış ilişkisi konusundaki söylemleri de günümüzün dışlayıcı iman anlayışlarına anlamlı bir cevaptır.Mâtürîdî düşüncesinde iman, Allah katından geldiği kesin olarak bilinen şeylerin anlaşılması, kabulü ve tasdik edilmesi olarak görülür. Mâtürîdîlere göre açıklık ve kesinlik, imanda önemli unsurlardır. Aynı açıklık ve kesinliğin, bireylerin iman anlayışlarına da yansıması gerekir. Bir müminin imanı, olabildiğince kesin, olabildiğince açık ve şeffaf olmalıdır. İmanı akli bir zorunluluk olarak Mâtürîdî’ye göre varlıkların güzelliğini aklî olarak bilmek mümkün olduğu gibi, benzer şekilde imanın güzelliğini de aklen bilebilmek mümkündür. Mâtürîdîler açısından tasdik, bilgiye dayanır ve bu nedenle de kesinlik ve kararlılık ifade eder. Başka bir deyişle o, inanılması gereken şeylerin kesin bir bilgisi ve onayıdır. Mâtürîdîlere göre açıklık ve kesinlik iman söz konusu olduğunda hayatîdir ve bu nedenden dolayı da kalbin tasdikine güçlü vurgu yaparlar. Bu nedenle iman, en güçlü, en kesin ve açık anlamını kalbî tasdikte bulur ve öncelikli olarak bir kalp işidir. Mâtürîdî’ye göre iman bir inanç meseledir; inanç ise ancak kalp ile olur. Bu nedenle de imanı kalbin tasdiki olarak tanımlamak aklî bir gerekliliktir. İmanın kalbin tasdikine dayanması anlamında, birey ile Allah arasındaki ilişki açıktır ve kuşku barındırmaz. Mâtürîdîlere göre tek başına kalbin tasdiki yeterlidir. Kalbin tasdikine dayanan böyle bir iman, geçerli imandır ve daha çok ahiret hayatına yöneliktir. Ancak onun insana ve dünyaya bakan yönü kapalı ve belirsiz kalmaktadır. Böyle bir inancı insanların bilebilmesi mümkün değir, zira kalpteki imanın varlığı onlar açısından kapalıdır. Yalnızca kalpte olan bir imanı yalnızca Allah bilebilir. Bir mümin için kalbin tutumu tek başına yeterli ve tasdikin diğer boyutları da gerekli değilse, o zaman iman bireysel ve kişiye özgü kalmaktadır. Bunu bir çeşit kapalı (insana açık olmaya) iman türü olarak görmek mümkündür. Bu durum ise tasdikin ihtiva ettiği açıklık ve kesinlik boyutuyla çelişir.Bununla birlikte Mâtürîdîler de imanın yalnızca kalp ile tasdik ve ahirete bakan yönüyle tanımlandığında ortaya çıkan bu riskin farkındadırlar. Ancak şu acıktır ki, onlar imanın yalnızca kalbin tasdiki olarak açıklanmasını, ahirete dönük ve teknik anlamda bir doğrulama türü olarak görürler. Mâtürîdîlerin büyük çoğunluğu, imanın insana bakan yönünü de hesaba katarlar ve bu açıdan onlar, imana kalbin tasdiki kadar dilin ikrarının da eşlik etmesi gerektiğini düşünürler. Bu durumda imanın en açık ve en şeffaf anlamına, kalb ile tasdik ve dil ile ikrar olarak tanımlandığında kavuştuğunu söylemek mümkün olacaktır. Mâtürîdîlere göre iman hem ahiret hem de dünya hayatı açısından en açık ve en kesin anlamına “kalb ile tasdik ve dil ile ikrar” olarak tanımlandığında erişir. Böyle bir anlaşım bir kapalılık barındırmaz ve herhangi bir kapalılık durumunu da reddeder. Diyebiliriz ki, Mâtürîdî düşünürler, imanın dünya hayatına bakan yönünü dikkate aldıklarında, kalbin tasdikinin ötesinde, imanın diğer boyutlarını da hesaba katarlar ve iman anlayışlarını bu açıdan inşa ederler. Kalbin tasdiki, dil ve davranış vasıtasıyla nesnel alana taşınır ve gözlemlenebilir duruma gelir. Diğer taraftan Mâtürîdîler, kalp ile tasdike dayanmayan salt bir dil ile ikrarı, imanın geçersiz bir biçimi olan nifaka özdeş görürler. Böyle bir iman Allah katında da ahiret hayatı açısından da geçerli bir iman değildir. (shrink)

There are many parameters to understand the Qur’ān correctly. One of them is to determine the siyaq-context in which the verses are included. This word expresses the relevance of any verse with what is before and after it, in terms of meaning. Attempting to interpret the verse independently, without considering the siyaq, internal and external context, in short, the integrity of the Qur’ān, makes any mistake inevitable. There are many verses that have been taken out of its context and drived (...) into different areas. One of them is the 30th verse of sura al-Muddaththir. In this article, we have tried to concentrate on three main issues in the context of verses 30th and 31th. First of all, we tried to deal with the issues of siyaq and sibaq of the relevant verses, the reference of the pronoun in “عليها” and who was tested and how and in both verses. The aforementioned pronoun points to the angels in charge of hell and states their number as nineteen. However, there have been people and groups that have interpreted the number nineteen in a different way from this understanding. They not only attribute holiness to this number, but also claim that the entire system of the Qur’ān was constructed according to this number. With this number, Allah tests the believers, the people of the Book, disbelievers, and those with diseases in their hearts. Allah, the Exalted, wanted to test these groups with their reaction to the number nineteen. From this perspective, the article aims to provide a perspective towards correct understanding of the relevant verses in the context of nineteen. (shrink)
