Islamic Religiosity and Auditors’ Judgements: Evidence from Pakistan.Nazia Adeel, Chris Patel, Nonna Martinov-Bennie & Sammy Xiaoyan Ying - 2021 - Journal of Business Ethics 179 (2):551-572.
We extend the literature by providing evidence that a cultural variable, intrinsic Islamic religiosity is important in understanding auditors’ judgement in the Islamic context of Pakistan. The intrinsic Islamic religiosity theoretical construct examined is Islamic Worldview which represents deeply held enduring and stable values which are likely to be dominant in influencing professionals’ judgements. Moreover, theoretical underpinning and empirical evidence in social psychology and organisational behaviour have established the critical role of intrinsic religiosity in influencing behaviour. Our first objective is (...)

Universal human rights declaration: Right to return of palestinian refugees.Summer Sultana, Sabir Ijaz & Mubasshar Hassan Jafri - 2019 - Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities 58 (2):71-86.
For over last 70 years, the concept of "return" attained primary focus for the national narrative of Palestinian struggle against devastating conditions, categorized as eviction from ancestral homeland, diffusion in all aspects and reconstitution of national unity. However, the very idea create fears among Israelis regarding their authority of whole Zionist enterprise, as well as demographic stability of Arab-Jewish ventures, with regards to the return of large number of Palestinians to their own places or any other part in Palestine. Discrimination (...)

Framing the Mind–Body Problem in Contemporary Neuroscientific and Sunni Islamic Theological Discourse.Faisal Qazi, Don Fette, Syed S. Jafri & Aasim I. Padela - 2018 - The New Bioethics 24 (2):158-175.
Famously posed by seventeenth-century French philosopher René Descartes, the mind–body problem remains unresolved in western philosophy and science, with both disciplines unable to move convincingly beyond the dualistic model. The persistence of dualism calls for a reframing of the problem through interdisciplinary modes of inquiry that include non-western points of view. One such perspective is Islamic theology of the soul, which, while approaching the problem from a distinct point of view, also adopts a position commensurate with dualism. Using this point (...)

Female Entrepreneurial Intentions in Pakistan: A Theory of Planned Behavior Perspective.Ambreen Sarwar, Qurratulain Ahsan & Nazia Rafiq - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
With theoretical underpinnings in the theory of planned behavior, this research aims at investigating how women's entrepreneurial intentions might develop in Pakistan. The survey of 216 female students revealed that psychological capital plays an important role in shaping women's entrepreneurial commitment which in turn results in increased intentions to opt for entrepreneurship as a career. Additionally, it was observed that social support moderates the indirect relation in such a way that in the presence of high social support, the association between (...)

Poor Representation of Developing Countries in Editorial Boards of Leading Obstetrics and Gynaecology Journals.Seema Rawat, Priyanka Mathe, Vishnu B. Unnithan, Pratyush Kumar, Kumar Abhishek, Nazia Praveen & Kiran Guleria - 2023 - Asian Bioethics Review 15 (3):241-258.
Evidence suggests a limited contribution to the total research output in leading obstetrics and gynaecology journals by researchers from the developing world. Editorial bias, quality of scientific research produced and language barriers have been attributed as possible causes for this phenomenon. The aim of this study was to understand the prevalence of editorial board members based out of low and lower-middle income countries in leading journals in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. The top 21 journals in the field of (...)

Enrichment metrics for the identification of stabilizers of the telomeric G quartet using genetic algorithm.Melissa Correa & Santiago Solorzano - 2020 - Minerva 1 (1):13-23.
In this study a combination of computer tools for coupling and virtual screening is detailed, in 108 active molecules and 3620 decoys to find stabilizers for G quadruplex. To have more precise results, combinations of coupling programs with fifteen energy scoring functions were applied. The validation and evaluation of the metrics was done with the CompScore genetic algorithm. The results showed an increase in BEDROC and EF of 50% compared to other strategies, as well as reflecting early recognition of active (...)
