  2. Chreods, homeorhesis and biofields: Finding the right path for science.Arran Gare - 2017 - Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology 131:61-91.
C.H. Waddington’s concepts of ‘chreods’ (canalized paths of development) and ‘homeorhesis’ (the tendency to return to a path), each associated with ‘morphogenetic fields’, were conceived by him as a contribution to complexity theory. Subsequent developments in complexity theory have largely ignored Waddington’s work and efforts to advance it. Waddington explained the development of the concept of chreod as the influence on his work of Alfred North Whitehead’s process philosophy, notably, the concept of concrescence as a self-causing process. Processes were recognized (...)

Ultimate biophysics: Investing in the study of the biofield.Savely Savva - 2001 - World Futures 57 (1):1-19.
The contemporary physical description of the universe reflects the inanimate world only. Broadening this description by including life may limit the application of well?established physical laws and may find new forces of the universe governing living organizations. This may also require adoption of some new assumptions and methodological principles, such as a broader principle of uncertainty, and recognition of the fact that humans? ability to manifest biofield communication is distributed very unevenly in the population. Based on available body of (...)

The mystery of life energy: biofield healing, phantom limbs, group energetics, and Gaia consciousness.Eric Leskowitz - 2024 - Rochester, Vermont: Bear & Company.
Explores the wealth of evidence for the reality of the human biofield. Looks at how energy therapies are now gaining acceptance due to irrefutable proof of their effectiveness for everything from PTSD to phantom limb pain. Examines the power of group energetics and team chemistry. Explains how the builders of Stonehenge and other sacred sites harnessed Earth energy and explores the subtle energetics of crop circles.

Does Reiki Benefit Mental Health Symptoms Above Placebo?Sonia Zadro & Peta Stapleton - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
BackgroundReiki is an energy healing technique or biofield therapy in which an attuned therapist places their hands on or near the client’s body and sends energy to the client to activate the body’s ability to heal itself and restore balance. It was developed in Japan at the end of the 19th century by Mikao Usui of Kyoto. Given the enormous international socioeconomic burden of mental health, inexpensive, safe, and evidenced-based treatments would be welcomed. Reiki is safe, inexpensive, and preliminary (...)

  7. Epilogue: Western science, reductionism and eastern perspectives.Arran Gare - 2017 - Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology 131:497-499.
Modern science originated in Western Europe, but its astonishing successes have forced every other civilization in the world to acknowledge and embrace its achievements. It is at the core of modernity and of the globalization of civilization. Consequently, efforts to show that non-Western traditions of thought should be taken seriously within the paradigm of science itself will inevitably provoke skepticism. However, science itself is riven not only by major problems and rival research programs, but by different conceptions about what is (...)
