Four Interpretations for the Slogan "Women Hold up Half the Sky"

Abstract

From the Mao Zedong era, "women hold half the sky," the slogan of the Communist Party of China led by women's liberation movement closely. Domestic and international has since the 20th century on the different historical periods have different interpretations. In fact, "half the sky" covered by "self" spirit of the new understanding of women can continue to provide a lot of cultural resources, especially when we realize that "women's work" still define the link between the female Guan Yu himself Who's the concept. "Half the sky" concept should in the "post-women's liberation" of China's social changes in gender policies of reality, to persist in the system level. The slogan "Women hold up half the sky" originated in Mao Zedong Era with close relationship with the women's liberation movement led by the Chinese Communist Party. There are various interpretations for the slogan at home and abroad in different stage since the early 20th century, In fact, it can provide continually a kind of culture source for many females to seek self renewal spirits and to understand themselves. Moreover, the concept of "Half the Sky" should be persisted in the political system in the "post-women's liberation" period
