The Factors of Sixty-Year Sino-US Relations and Its Implications

Abstract

New China was founded six years, ups and downs in Sino-US relations experienced a confrontation stalemate, strategic cooperation, adaptation and deepen cooperation in four stages. China-US relations so complex reasons, has been largely affected by international political structure, social systems and ideological differences, Taiwan and other factors of distress. Dialysis exchanges between China and the U.S. six years of history we can see that the two countries can achieve common ground, mutual benefit and win-win. Sixty years' history of Sino-US relations and properly handle provides a wealth of historical revelation. In order to promote the sustainable development of China-US relations, both sides must respect each other's core interests, improve the consultation mechanisms, consensus, properly handle differences. Among them, China should further enhance the strategic autonomy, focus on U.S. domestic factors important influence on Sino-US relations. During the past six decades following the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the Sino-US relations has witnessed both highs and lows, including mainly 4 phases of the confrontation and stalemate, the strategic collaboration, the revision and adaptation, and the strengthening of cooperation. The reason why the Sino-US relations is so complicated is that it has been being perplexed by the structure of international politics, the divergence in ideology as well as the Tai Wan question. Analyzing the 60 years' contact between two countries, however , we can learn that it is possible for two sides to seek common ground while putting aside differences, and reach mutual benefits and "win-win" result. Furthermore, the 60 years' contact has taught lessons for both countries to deal with the bilateral relation in a more appropriate way. To advance the sustainable development of Sino-VS relations, it is essential that both sides respect the core interest of the other's, enhance the coordinating system, concentrate on the consensus, and solve the divergences properly. As far as China is concerned, it should increase its strategic independence and attach importance to the influence of internal factors from VS on the Sino-VS relations
