Abstract

This essay explains that the scope of counterculture is wider; usually regarded as connected to certain colourful and resounding artistic expressions inherent in hippie hedonism are not longer valid. This article points out that counterculture has been present since antiquity in all cultural expression such as philosophy, the sciences, art, etc. Specifically, this essay focuses on the current importance of counterculture in psychiatry, psychoanalysis, philosophy, and social sciences
