Abstract
The conclusion of the study was that Heidegger's phenomenology as stated in Being and Time opens up new avenues in understanding mankind; it gives the directions to the becoming and understanding of one's own self. The understanding of one's own self from the theoretical perspective presented in Heidegger's work provides mankind with a new and constructive outlook toward a self-being that can only grow and exist by living with the selves of others as an equal in dignity and respect, a being whose existence is worthy for more than can be measured in material wealth. ;Results. The simplicity of Heidegger's Being and Time was demonstrated, and the importance of its application to real human life situations was shown and emphasized. Although the research was extremely simplified, it showed the importance of Heidegger's phenomenology, and established a foundation for further suggested studies. ;Method. A brief interpretation of Heidegger's Being and Time was carried out, focusing on word and language interpretation. To avoid confusion, only the most basic structures of human existence were utilized, such as the existential understanding, feeling, and behavior. Those structures were examined in their ontic occurrences of everydayness, or non-genuineness, non-originality, and non-authenticity. And, in their originality, genuineness or authenticity. Means of interpreting relations between human beings in the non-genuine and genuine forms were explored, as was the phenomenological time concept which serves to integrate all of Heidegger's phenomenal structures. Finally, diagrams were constructed to demonstrate practical applications of the theory presented in Being and Time. ;The Problem. The purpose of the study was to arrive at an adequate interpretation and exposition of Heidegger's Being and Time to render it intelligible to the English reader, and to define the practical application of this work
