Abstract

Grete Hermann wurde 1925 in Göttingen als erste Doktorandin von Emmy Noether promoviert. Als Thema hatte Noether ihr die Ausarbeitung von Teilen der Dissertation von Kurt Hentzelt gestellt. Dabei ging es weniger um das Finden neuer Ergebnisse als darum, Algorithmen anzugeben, mittels deren sich gesuchte Größen nicht nur korrekt bestimmen lassen, sondern auch mit einem von vorneherein abschätzbaren Rechenaufwand.
