Jakob Zwilling between Hölderlin and Sinclair
Abstract
The basis of the whole philosophical system of Zwilling consist of the idea of the reciprocal action, which takes the place of the thought of an absolute being presupposed and external to the relationships, as maintained by Hölderlin in his essay Seyn Urtheil Möglichkeit. Therefore Zwilling distances himself from the absolute unity of subject and object of Hölderlin’s intellectual intuition and comes closer to Sinclair’s concept of the infinite production of the relation and the non-relation of the reflection. This original position enriches the general intellectual constellation of the last years of the eighteenth century in Germany and testifies the independence of the young thinker, whose contribution to the mature thoughts of his more famous friends deserves to be acknowledged
