Abstract

Resumo Robert Bresson e Charles Taylor aproximam-se por muitas razões: pertencem à tradição católica, são autores realistas e, sobretudo, visam a discutir em suas obras temas éticos contemporâneos dentro de um padrão que Taylor chama de autenticidade. Os critérios que permitem entender o sentido de autenticidade estão estruturados em dois grupos: o que entende autenticidade como desconstrução de valores e regras e o que a entende como autoconstrução da subjetividade a partir de um horizonte definido. O exame de alguns personagens do cinema de Robert Bresson à luz das categorias supramencionadas perscruta em que sentido se pode dizer que tais personagens são autênticos. A autenticidade verifica-se no cinema de Bresson seja pela técnica desenvolvida em seu cinematógrafo com os não-atores e com a edição, seja nas opções éticas de seus personagens. The criteria which allow to understanding the sense of authenticity are structured into two groups: authenticity as deconstruction of values and rules; and authenticity as construction of the Self from a defined horizon of sense. The examination of some movie characters of Robert Bresson in light those categories allow to say in which sense such characters are authentic. The authenticity occurs in Bresson’s movies both in the technique developed in his cinematographer with non-actors, and the ethical choices of their characters.
