Abstract
The article revealed contents of the phenomenon of transforming love in the work of Dostoevsky on the materials of the novel «The Idiot». Many philosophic studies were devoted to the problem of analysis of the phenomenon of love in the works of F.M. Dostoyevsky. Most researchers emphasize the sacrificial love, or focuses on erotic nature of love. This approach significantly constricts the phenomenon of love described by the writer in the form of Prince Myshkin. The study of love of Prince was carried out using four concepts covering the four key aspects of love: eros, agape, philia and storge. Thus, there are main features of loveeros of Prince Myshkin, such as: drive for beauty and its admiration, ardor and impetuosity, recklessness and frenzy, which are positive, i.e. they are the evidence that his loveeros was hierarchically focused on more exalted goods. Loveagape is in the center of the phenomenon of transforming love with its pity, compassion, sacrifice, care and forgiveness. Lovephilia is demonstrated in Prince Myshkin by similarity of views, common ground, mutual understanding, trust and lovestorge – by affection causing peace of mind or depression. Thus, the study proved that Prince Myshkin is an ideologist of transforming love, combining all four aspects of it. Creativity, the ability to change spiritually not only the love medium but also the people around is the evidence of his transforming love.
