Abstract
The aim of this project is to develop a form of anomalous monism as a general model for the relations between different sciences, especially between physics and chemistry. The status of ontological thinking in the philosophy of science will play a central role in my investigation. As 'ingredients' I will primarily use, integrate, and modify the notion of a 'dappled world' proposed by Nancy Cartwright, van Brakel's version of anomalous monism tailored specifically to the relation between physics and chemistry, and Ereshefsky's eliminative pluralism.
