Abstract

Business organizations have to cope with complexities of their internal environment in achieving ethical and sustainable organizations. Thus, this chapter discusses new ways of thinking and acting toward ethical organization and sustainability through organizational culture and three fundamental organizational aspects: structure, processes, and policies, by means of which ethics and sustainability can potentially be valued, and through which they can be nurtured. These fundamental organizational aspects bring to the fore the issue of ethical and sustainable organization. This chapter may provide a meaningful discussion upon sustainable practices, highlighting a conflict between economic and moral reasoning within the organization. For further discussion, this chapter suggests that there is more challenging when business organizations interact with a society where there is an immensely complex set of relations because of political, social, economic and environmental aspects. In fact, ethical issues arise in all the major contexts of business activity: with individuals, business organizations, and business environments.
