Abstract

Mendes-Flohr vat de stelling van zijn essay samen in de bewering dat 'de zionistische bekrachtiging van de nationale en culturele integriteit van Israël geen hernieuwde politieke of culturele joodse gettovorming in het verschiet' zag. Hij schrijft over de verscheurdheid van het culturele zionisme tussen de traditionele joodse cultuur en de moderne seculiere samenleving.
