Content Analysis and Comparison of the Scriptures of the New Testament and the Teachings of Confucius

Abstract

In the multifaceted and multicultural world of present-day psychotherapy, techniques for learning and understanding the complexities of various world religions are a necessary tool. This study performed a content analysis between Christianity and Confucianism using a software program entitled FTC to compare these religions based on language usage. Five thousand, one hundred and twelve sentences were encoded using the four gospels of the King James version of the Bible and the Analects of Confucianism. The analyses revealed that the FTC coding system can detect the differences between Christianity and Confucianism on the dimensions tested
