Malaysia participation in the creation of ASEAN and regional forums

Abstract

The aim of the article is to highlight the role of Malaysia to the creation of the ASEAN and its institutional enlargement till the format of ASEAN Political-Security Community. It is shown that ASEAN is a specific model of regional integration that takes into account the development of the Southeast Asia states and effectively respond to global change. The reasons for the formation of forums ASEAN+3, ARF, East Asia Summit. Stated that the driver of regional integration in the post-bipolar period were the financial crisis of 1997-1998 and 2008-2009.
