Abstract

Kant's unambiguous definition of the relationship between philosophy and mathematics, where philosophical cognition is considered as rational cognition through concepts, whereas mathematical cognition stems from the construction of concepts, is still relevant today. Bearing in mind the situation where philosophy is drifting apart from metaphysics, leaving behind ontological issues, the reflection on Kant's definition thus proves primarily the reflection on the need for philosophy today.
