Abstract

Kahn's reputation as a historian rests primarily on his studies of the Habsburg monarchy, produced over a thirty-year period. These essays, however, reflect his other, far-ranging interests and offer reinterpretation of such diverse and complex issues as the personality of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the implications of the Anschluss of 1938, among other topics.
