The political elite of Ukraine as the personification of power subculture

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to research the phenomenon of the subculture of power. The object of the research is the political elite of modern Ukraine, which, in the author’s opinion, represents in its activities cultural specifics of the implementation of government practices in the society as a whole. Particular attention is paid to the problem of methodological principles and methods for determining specific features of the phenomenon of the subculture of power. The research methodology is based on the combination of micro-political and macro-political approaches. Specifics of formation of the value system and behavioral code of the political class in Ukraine are traced during the period of independence. The availability of constant and innovative elements in the structure of the national subculture of power are identified. It is stated that the tendency of the ruling elite to solve their problems through informal institutions and practices due to its referentiality for other social groups, objectively supports the existence of various unconventional and deviant social practices among these layers, problematizes the general nature of the course of political transit in Ukraine, making its end result difficult to predict etc.
