Abstract

Some studies concerning Whitehead's philosophy have sought to isolate his philosophy of science or mathematics from his metaphysics. This is not Code's purpose, although the final chapter does present aspects of a Whiteheadian philosophy of mathematics. It is primarily concerned with the way mathematics can be used to describe physical reality, showing that this cannot be done apart from important philosophical assumptions.
