Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show that the concept of information can be regarded as a fundamental ontological category. An attempt is made to show that many conceptual difficulties in ontological and epistemological discourse have their roots in a static ontology. In the second part an attempt is made to show how an alternative philosophy of "event" as interpreted in the light of Peirce's New List of Categories might provide the key to a reconstruction of the world which withstands the lure of dualism
