Abstract

Following a distinction of the sciences into exact and inexact, based on the kinds of methods and reasoning processes involved in explanation and prediction, the authors briefly develop the peculiar method of the inexact branch, with special emphasis on the systematic use of experts in the formation of limited scientific generalizations, and on the use of simulated experiments.-- J.
