Abstract

The paper is devoted to the analysis of sound art practices that take place in city spaces. The notion of sound - scape is presented in its historical context, which was significant as a basis for the genre of audio walks, devel- opment of auditive culture and the status of everyday sound as a potential subject for an aesthetic experience. The article describes principles of sound art practices that are related to an urban awareness by presenting particular cases. From this perspective, various genres of sound art are presented: phonography, sound installations, artistic interventions, performative and complex art practices.
