Abstract

We representatives of the Academies of Sciences of socialist countries - Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, the German Democratic Republic, Mongolia, Poland, the Soviet Union, and Czechoslovakia - participants in the International Theoretical Conference on "Philosophy, Politics, and Culture," held in connection with V. I. Lenin's 112th anniversary, have resolved to address this letter to professional philosophers, political scientists, sociologists, and practitioners and theoreticians of culture in various countries and regions of the world - Western Europe, the United States of America, Africa, and Latin America. Our conference was devoted to problems we have discussed together a number of times at various meetings, and will also be discussing at upcoming international congresses: the International Political Science Association and the International Sociological Association in August of this year [1982], and the International Federation of Philosophical Societies in August 1983.
