Abstract

This volume traces, in the works of three Italian writers belonging to different periods and backgrounds, a common aspiration to a lost harmony. This perennial aspiration has found expression in many forms. It is the vital nature of this quest, one often deemed by them to be hopeless, that gives the work of these writers its dynamism and sometimes tragic tension.
