The history of studying English phraseology as a science

Abstract

This article provides the historical study of English phraseology as a science. In particular, in the the research we studied the theory of phraseology in English linguistic literature by P.Vizateli, A.McKay, U.Weinreich, L.P.Smith devoted to international phraseology. The research of Ch.Hockett and other scientists were studied. At the same time, the definitions of phraseological unit and idiom given by English and Uzbek linguists were analyzed comparatively.
