RESUMO: Este texto aborda alguns trabalhos contemporâneos em artes visuais que apresentam diferentes relações e disposições de um material dito natural: pedras. Ao retomar as distinções explicitadas por Heidegger, entre meras coisas, utensílio e obra de arte, bem como entre a pedra, o animal e o homem em relação ao mundo, serão discutidos deslocamentos acerca dessas distinções, com base em apontamentos da desconstrução. Pretende-se indicar alguns dos sentidos em que os enfoques desconstrutivos são frutíferos, para se pensar movimentos contemporâneos no (...) âmbito do que Derrida denomina artes do espaço. ABSTRACT: This text approaches some contemporary works in the visual arts which present different relations and dispositions of a material taken to be natural: stone. I intend to revisit the distinctions presented by Heidegger between mere things, utensils and works of art, as well as between stone, animal and man in connection with the world. Furthermore, I will discuss dislocations regarding such issues, based on indications from deconstruction. I aim to indicate some of the meanings under which deconstructive approaches are fruitful for thinking about contemporary movements within the scope of what Derrida calls "spatial arts". (shrink)

ABSTRACTMetaphysics has long been regarded as providing meaning to the world. Subsequent progressive replacement attempts of this narrative by a scientific approach have generally led to a view of life as being void of meaning. However, this has not affected the quest for meaning or for an understanding of this meaning, despite an increasing societal neglect of the importance of its pursuit. This article aims to contribute to a philosophical understanding of the sense of life in the world, drawing on (...) Jean-Luc Nancy's understanding of sense as developed in his Sense of the World. To talk of “sense” rather than of “meaning” is an unconventional choice in the field, yet both differ from one another in that sense refers to an opening as the very possibility of meaningfulness generally. This means that, to understand meaning, we must understand sense. In one of his latest books, La pensée dérobée, Jean-Luc Nancy continues writing about the major themes of his work up until now: community, sense, being as being with, or singular plural being. These themes come together in a witnessing of the world “as such”: that is to say,the world here and now in which we are living in common. The sense of the world is nothing but this being-in-common. This makes Nancy a thinker of “globalization”, albeit in a very (...) specific way, one concerned with the way in which we are “world”. One way to argue this is to consider the way in which Nancy's workis larded with enumerations. Very often he “recites” our singular plural being by giving lists of the diversity of “things”. This is also the case for a few of the texts in La pensée dérobée. In trying to catch an echo of these “recitals”, I want to review the theme world in Nancy's oeuvre and ask the question if and how Nancy thinks of our global coexistence nowadays. This essay explores Jean‐Luc Nancy's rethinking of political space in terms of an ontological ‘being‐with’. It elucidates how Nancy's thinking of community emerges out of the French philosopher's reworking of Heidegger's crucial notion of Mitsein. For Nancy, although Heidegger argues that Dasein is always already also Mitsein, Mitsein is nonetheless also occluded by the priority accorded to Dasein. The consequences for the way in which community or the space of the political is configured are profound since traditional conceptions of the (...) subject of community thus remain unreconstructed. Nancy however does reconstruct community by emphasising that the primal ontological conditions of community are not conceived as the One, the Other or the We, but as the ‘with’, ‘relationality’, and the ‘between’. Touching on Nancy and Derrida offers a glimpse not only into the thesis both of Jean-Luc Nancy's critique of touch and of Derrida's Le Toucher, but also into the threshold of a technology of (the) sense to come. This glimpse is an interrogation, and one that is both historic and historical, in the sense that Derrida, in addressing Jean-Luc Nancy's work, has presented us with an encyclopedic history of touch in the philosophic tradition from Aristotle to Nancy, one in which (...) what Derrida calls “transcendental archifacticity” is accorded its proper value, and within which any seeming anthropological privilege, as an inherent aspect of the Phenomenological Reduction is, as Derrida says, ‘overshadowed.’ Such an overshadowing is both strategic, in terms of a historical phenomenological project, and tactical, in Derrida's investigative sense: tactical in terms of implementation, manifestation, manipulation (i.e. through the application of the hand, manus) and in terms of tact, tactility; to which must be tacked on, à la Nancy, con-tact, ‘with touch,’ a ‘with-touch’ in which a béance, a gash or dash, opens out in-between, ‘at the very point’ to use Derrida's repeated specification, of bifurcation and of con-tact, at the junction point of the ‘spacing out’ of a laminated différance con-noting more than it has or had ever done in Derrida's work itself. *. In this paper we try to analyze that which in Jacques Derrida’s philosophical and political thinking is called “political untranslatable” through a triple movement described in the late texts: a deconstruction movement, which can be found in his entire works and which, in terms of political philosophy, aims to identify in politics an untranslatable remain that cannot be contained in any binary categories of philosophy; an autoimmune movement, which stretches and complicates deconstruction and which expresses the capacity of western political (...) philosophy concepts to obliterate themselves from their inside. The political untranslatable, in terms of autoimmunity, signifies the difficulty, if not impossibility of transferring these concepts from a historical experience to another. Finally, the precariousness movement completes deconstruction and autoimmune vocabulary and refers to the necessity of considering, in any philosophical composition, the fragility of political, economic or social structures of the globalized world in which we live. The political untranslatable is another name for the rest of our individual and collective lives that resist to any recovery in totalizing ideologies. (shrink)

Hay dos frases que quisiera comentar aquí: “No hay naturaleza”, de Jean-Luc Nancy, y “el ser es el Capital”, de Frédéric Neyrat. La intersección de ellas pasa por Heidegger y su idea de Gestell. No es objetivo de este texto hablar “sobre la naturaleza”, como lo hicieron los primeros griegos, ni hacer una historia del concepto; más bien intentaremos realizar un trazo entre naturaleza y técnica utilizando los conceptos de Gestell, Ecotecnia y consumación, de Heidegger, Nancy y Neyrat, respectivamente. Este (...) “entre” (al estilo heideggeriano) indicará una figura epocal: uno de los trazos de nuestro mundo globalizado marca esta fusión de naturaleza y artificio. (shrink)

En el presente texto proponemos realizar un primer trazado de una zona de correspondencia entre cuerpo y materialidad, para replantear esta materialidad a partir de ciertas categorías conceptuales. La hipótesis planteada es que hay determinadas concepciones del cuerpo en el pensamiento del siglo XX en adelante que suponen una materialidad no reductible a principios de determinación, una materialidad emparentada con la libertad, donde la necesidad se subsume a la contingencia concreta de los cuerpos. Nos proponemos bosquejar una construcción conceptual de (...) materialidad que pueda articular diferentes pensamientos que incluyen al cuerpo de un modo relevante, especialmente el de Jean-Luc Nancy.
