Abstract

While many scholars might think economics to be antithetical to understanding love, I argue that it is central to this enterprise. This idea is developed by a conceptual exploration of how economic reasoning enhances our understanding of love. Specifically, I consider the economist’s approach to love as a household commodity, as well as different sorts of love , and the connection between accumulating love and relationship stability
