Village Elections and the Redistribution of Political Power and Collective Property

Abstract

This on a village in northern China competitive elections of research points to two types of contradictions: one is the contradiction between the villagers and village cadres, the village elite and the other is the contradiction between those who seek power. The contradiction between the villagers and the old village official embodied in: the latter's corruption and mismanagement led to serious erosion of collective property and redistribution is unfair. The contradiction between the villagers and the new Village lies: the latter can not solve the problems left over from the old village official. This contradiction is not only caused resentment, but also kindled the enthusiasm of the people involved in politics. The contradiction between elite focused on the competition for political office, which led to the election and after the formation of political parties and factions, which has become a significant political country characteristics. On a survey of village governance issues: free elections led to a radical redistribution of political power, because the collective property of the villagers can not meet the fair distribution of the deep desire to re-without law the villagers satisfied.
