Abstract

Since its publication in 1849, Henry David Thoreau’s _Civil Disobedience _has influenced protestors, activists and political thinkers all over the world. Including the full text of Thoreau’s essay, _The Routledge Guidebook to Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience _explores the context of his writing, analyses different interpretations of the text and considers how posthumous edits to _Civil Disobedience_ have altered its intended meaning.
