Aristotele, Elenchi sofistici. Introduzione, traduzione e commento

Abstract

Gino SORIO Sophistical Elenchoi. Introduction, translation and commentaryThis doctorate thesis is a translation, with an introduction and notes, of the aristotelian Sophistical elenchoi. The translation aims to be as faithful as possible, retaining all the difficulties of the text and trying to avoid any possible interpretation, helping the readers to guess easily the correspondent greek text. The commentary deals with the whole text and all its problems. I mostly examined similar works rather than partial essays, not related to the text as a whole. Many ancient commentators were used, the greek ones (the Anonymous and Ps. Alexander) and those of the Middle Age, and the modern scholars as well. This is a work of historiography, aiming particularly at Aristoteles' thought, at his concept of logic, of language, of knowledge, of sophist, and at his idea of the relation between logic and history. An index of the main greek words ends this thesis
