Abstract

Survey of underemployment among university graduates with Ph.D degrees in the USA, and scientists' and engineers' employment opportunities in the public sector and in nonacademic occupations in the late 1970s - examines proposals on employment policy to remedy the crisis through labour mobility; examines job satisfaction of professional workers, incl. The woman worker, trends in occupational change, wages, etc.; forecasts labour shortages of scientists and engineers. Bibliography, questionnaires, references and statistical tables.
