From its very inception phenomenology has concerned itself with aesthetics and issues arising there from. However, there has been little, if any, documentation of how these issues have been addressed worldwide. Although this article cannot provide a complete and comprehensive study it does offer an exposition of the most relevant authors and their research in this area to date. In addition, it outlines the various attempts to develop a phenomenological aesthetics as regards the structure of the image and the genres of literature, painting, film, and music
