Abstract

In this article, a review of the meaning of the word “logos” as it was used by the theologian Joseph Ratzinger is presented. Afterwards we shall focus on a third meaning of this term as word and human thought, and at the same time promotes a dialogue between faith philosophy and secular reason. This use of reason implies form the German theologian a distinctive feature with regards to other religions. The position of Christianity is positive and complementary: faith allows for the critic of reason, and at the same time human knowledge widens and enriches with Christian revelation. Christianity accepted philosophy beforethe religions: it is what Ratzinger has called “the victory of intelligence” in the world of religions, and also in the future a true “illustration” wider and deeper than the one that has taken place in modernity must happen
