Abstract

The aim of the present article is to study the JournalCataluña–revista quincenal ilustrada edited by Cels Gomis, analyse its content, determine why it lasted for such a short time and contextualise the role played by its editor in context. This will shed light on the reasons why a Journal created in Catalonia with Catalan authors and dealing Catalan issues was written in Spanish and aimed at an external public. In subsequent years before and after the Spanish Civil WarSpanish other authors would also publish journals with the Catalunya in which the choice of language was also intentional.
