Abstract
Nowadays, renewable energy and energy efficiency become the most significant issues that needed to be considered when it comes to the sustainability of energy management. This project is developed to present the energy efficiency level of UiTMPP’s Baiduri College building. The energy efficiency is used to refer energy usage without wasting the energy. This project is carried out due to the unavailability of electrical meter for each building. The main objective of this project is to reduce the electric bill and energy consumption at UiTMPP’s Baiduri College. The method used for this project is by monitoring, collecting, and analyzing electric energy usage by using three-phase quality recorder. Building energy index is used as a rating point to indicate the building energy performances. This technique is mostly used to calculate the energy efficiency in the building. This BEI also can be expressed as kWh/m2/year which shows that the total of energy used for one year in building in kilowatt hours is divided by the gross area of building in m2. The result for this project has been determined by calculating the electricity bill and the power usage for the building. A total of BEI for this building is 925.27 kWh/m2/year. This BEI will be compared with Malaysia Standard MS1525 requirement that it should be lower than 220 kWh/m2/year. There are a few suggestions on how to reduce and save the energy usage based on collected results.
