Originally published in 1947, this book presents the content of the fourth annual lecture of the National Book League, which was delivered by Bertrand Russell in October 1946. In his lecture Russell provides a discussion of the relationship between philosophies and the development of political systems, in addition to the political qualities of philosophical thinking.
