Abstract
We begin the second quarter-century of publication of Soviet Studies in Philosophy with a new editor, James P. Scanlan, along with a new board of advisory editors. Professor Scanlan brings to the journal impressive credentials of a long and productive career in philosophical research. Professor of philosophy at The Ohio State University, he is currently a visiting research associate at the Slavic Research Center of Hokkaido University, Japan. Scanlan is the author of numerous essays published in journals and edited volumes, and is one of the editors of the three-volume collection Russian Philosophy, published in 1965. His most recent work is the widely acclaimed volume on current Soviet philosophy, Marxism in the USSR (1985). We welcome Professor Scanlan to the editorship of Soviet Studies in Philosophy.
