Abstract

O objetivo deste texto é explorar algumas considerações sobre a noção de ensino de tolerância, dando especial atenção à possibilidade de tolerância em povos não-liberais. Rawls argumenta que toleramos as pessoas e grupos de pessoas, dentro de uma sociedade liberal, desde que elas adiram a doutrinas que afirmam fundamentos democráticos . Em O Direito dos Povos, por seu lado, ele afirma que devemos tolerar certos tipos de estados não-liberais, rotulados de sociedades hierárquicas decentes, desde que satisfaçam determinadas condições. Mas, qual a justificativa para se tolerar povos não-liberais? Como ensinar tolerância?The purpose of this text is to explore some considerations about the notion of teaching tolerance paying special attention to the possibility of tolerance in non-liberal people. Rawls argues that we are to tolerate persons and groups of persons, within a liberal society, as long as they adhere to comprehensive doctrines that affirm democratic essentials . In The Law of Peoples, however, he claims that we should tolerate a certain kind of illiberal states, labeled decent hierarchical societies, granted they meet certain conditions. But, what’s the justification for the toleration of certain nonliberal peoples? How to teach tolerance?
